End-of-Term Decisions & Liveblogging the Kagan Confirmation Hearings

Today is a very big day. This morning, the Supreme Court handed down the last of its decisions this Term, and bid farewell to Justice Stevens. Included among today’s decisions was McDonald v. City of Chicago, in which the Court ruled 5-4 to incorporate the Second Amendment via the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. CAC filed a brief in this case urging the Court to incorporate via the Privileges or Immunities Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Later today, CAC’s David Gans will have further analysis of the Court’s lengthy opinion, concurrences and dissents.

Meanwhile, starting at 12:30pm EST, CAC President Doug Kendall and Online Communications Director Hannah McCrea will be liveblogging the testimony of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan before the Senate Judiciary Committee, for Huffington Post. Technology providing, we hope to cross-post our liveblog here at Text & History, though it can also be viewed here. We encourage readers to follow along and ask questions.
