New friend of court brief defends SB 1070 decision
PHOENIX (AP) – A liberal-leaning legal advocacy group filed a friend-of-the-court brief asking a federal appeals court to uphold a decision that put parts of Arizona’s new immigration law on hold.
The Constitutional Accountability Center tells the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco that the Arizona law is trumped by federal law.
The group also says U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton made the correct decision in July by putting the law’s most controversial portions on hold.
Gov. Jan Brewer is appealing Bolton’s decision.
