CAC Release: Lemon Arrest the Trump Administration’s Latest Assault on the First Amendment

WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the arrest of journalist Don Lemon, Constitutional Accountability Center Vice President Praveen Fernandes issued the following response:

The news of journalist Don Lemon’s arrest should concern all Americans, irrespective of political party, who value their freedoms. This arrest must be seen in the broader context of the Trump administration’s war against the free press, including the arrest of journalist Georgia Fort in Minnesota, the FBI raid of Washington Post journalist Hannah Natanson’s home, and the attempt to restrict the information covered by journalists at the Pentagon. These recent actions are this administration’s latest shocking assaults on the First Amendment. At stake is not only journalists’ right to cover critically important topics, but also the ability of Americans to have accurate information about the actions of their own government.
