CAC Release: DOJ Under Todd Blanche Fails to Disclose Epstein Files (Again)
WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the Trump administration’s failure to disclose the Epstein files as a court ordered it to do in Phang v. Blanche, Constitutional Accountability Center (CAC) Vice President Praveen Fernandes issued the following reaction:
Last week, in failing to fully disclose additional information from the Epstein files as Judge Emmet Sullivan had ordered it to do, the Trump administration’s Department of Justice chose once again the path of delay and non-compliance. Congress, by passing the Epstein Files Transparency Act in a massive bipartisan fashion, sought to give the American people what they have long demanded—disclosure, answers, and accountability. That’s what journalist Katie Phang’s lawsuit is about.
It is disappointing, but not surprising, that the Department of Justice under Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche would ignore this call. After all, former Attorney General Pam Bondi testified that Todd Blanche helmed the botched release of the Epstein files. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer stated in June that he had questions for Blanche about the Epstein files release, yet there is nothing to suggest that those questions have been answered, let alone in sworn congressional testimony.
As Todd Blanche’s confirmation hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee approach, all senators should ask themselves why Todd Blanche should hold the job as America’s top law enforcement official when he seems more intent on skirting, rather than enforcing, the law.
