King: Victory For The Affordable Care Act
SUPREME COURT PLAZA, Washington, DC – On news this morning that the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a 6-3 ruling in King v. Burwell, upholding a key function of the Affordable Care Act, Constitutional Accountability Center issued the following reaction:
CAC President Doug Kendall said, “Today, Chief Justice John Roberts chose to uphold the rule of law and the ACA against an openly partisan attack. It is a great day for millions of Americans already relying on the ACA for affordable insurance; for the Court as an institution; and for the Chief Justice’s stature as he completes his tenth Term on the Court.”
CAC Senior Counsel Simon Lazarus added, “The Court recognized that it must consider the full text, context, structure, and purpose of the ACA, and that these sources all pointed to these subsidies being available on HealthCare.gov.”
