Washington, DC – Constitutional Accountability Center is proud to announce that longtime D.C.-area non-profit leader Surjeet Ahluwalia has joined CAC as Chief Operating Officer.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Surjeet on board at this pivotal moment in CAC’s history,” said Elizabeth Wydra, President of Constitutional Accountability Center. “Now celebrating our tenth year, CAC is at the forefront of an array of issues confronting the nation during the Trump Administration. As we defend constitutional rights and values now under attack, as well as hold President Trump accountable to the Constitution’s anti-corruption commands, Surjeet’s impressive record of non-profit management is exactly what CAC needs to help maximize our considerable potential. As we begin our second decade promoting the progressive promise of the Constitution’s text and history, Surjeet is an outstanding addition to our already exceptionally talented staff.”

Prior to joining CAC, Ahluwalia was Deputy Chief Operating Officer at The Raben Group where she grew the business development function in support of a range of progressive causes. Before Raben, she was the Executive Director of Asian American LEAD, a direct service organization providing after-school, summer, and mentoring programs to low-income Asian American youth. She improved the program model and fundraised to nearly double the number of youth served. Ahluwalia has also been in operations-focused roles for Teach For India, AmericaSpeaks, and D.C.’s Child and Family Services Agency. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Rochester and a Master’s in Public Policy degree from Harvard University. Ahluwalia joins CAC following the January retirement of former Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Judith E. Schaeffer, who served in that role for nearly ten years.
