WASHINGTON, DC – On news that Ketanji Brown Jackson will be sworn in as the 104th Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court tomorrow at 12 Noon ET, Constitutional Accountability Center President Elizabeth Wydra issued the following reaction:

Justice Jackson’s swearing in reflects a long overdue but welcome historic milestone. She will join a court at a historic crossroads, too, with two starkly different visions of the Constitution and our country represented by the conservative majority and more liberal dissenters. Justice Jackson will likely have no illusions about being immediately able to write majority opinions vindicating equal rights for all, furthering meaningful justice and accountability, or advancing our nation toward the fair and inclusive democracy promised by, but never fully realized in, our national charter. But majorities change. And her powerful voice on the Court will be speaking to history, to progress, and a substantial portion of the nation that is profoundly dismayed about the current Court and looking for a glimmer of hope.
