WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the Senate’s vote on Todd Blanche’s nomination to serve as United States Attorney General, Constitutional Accountability Center (CAC) Vice President Praveen Fernandes issued the following reaction:

Today’s vote to confirm Todd Blanche as Attorney General might be a win for Donald Trump and Todd Blanche, but it is a loss for the American people. There are many reasons for this, not least of which is that our nation’s top law enforcement position should not be occupied by someone whose fingerprints were all over the $1.8 billion slush fund, one of the most brazen attempts to circumvent the law and benefit Trump and his cronies.

On top of that, every senator who voted for Blanche’s confirmation cast a vote in support of the Blanche-led Department of Justice’s continued failure to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act and its unconscionable treatment of Epstein survivors, its efforts to wipe clean the records of those who participated in January 6^th violence against lawmakers and law enforcement officers, its record of weaponized prosecutions, and its brazen rejection of the notion of prosecutorial independence from White House pressure. Historians will remember where senators stood, and so should American voters.
